Technically Complex Product Design
A re-look at the current technologies used in a beard trimmer to make it more ergonomic and efficient. (Registered for Patent.)
Overview
This project aimed to re-look at the current technologies used in a beard trimmer and make it more ergonomic and efficient.
User research
To understand the trimmer better, I ran quantitative research — a survey sent to 30 people to capture their experiences while using a trimmer.

Components
Features
- Foil shaver — provides the closest shave thanks to the micro-foil that aligns the skin without the user feeling the shift; each foil is designed to cut any hair type in a single pass.
- Battery indicator — a visual indication of the battery's state of charge so the user knows how much runtime is left.
- Magnetic charging — the magnetic charging pin connects with the charging case and charges on the go when not in use; the trimmer charges in the case and is always ready for use.
Materials used
- ABS plastic — body of the trimmer and portable charger.
- Stainless steel — blades.
